Sky Lunchtime Agenda – 5 March 2013

On Sky Lunchtime Agenda, I spoke with host David Lipson and Liberal Senator Scott Ryan about the importance of treating asylum-seekers with dignity and compassion, and the value of making sure we have more and better-trained workers in the aged care sector.

  1. Dear Andrew, I am writing to you, just to comment on the Lunchtime Agenda program I saw today, with yourself & Senator Scott Ryan. Everything you said was right & correct, but I took particular umbridge at the host, David Lipson, like all Sky reporters/commentators, when he tried to muffle you, by telling you not to “sledge” Scott Morrison!! How outrageous, for him to say such a thing.I dont ever hear him or anyone else say that about anything the Govt says, in particular our corrageous PM, but it never ceases to amaze me how they twist things around to make the Govt & Julia to be the ones who are dividing the community AND vilifying assylum seekers/457 workers etc. I am gobsmacked!! I would have liked for you to have gotten very angry with his remark to stop “sledging \” Scott Morrison. You really needed to hit him between the eyes, & say that it is the Opposition who are “sledging” the Govt, particularly on this issue. Abbott is now playing the “divisivness” card, ,making twisting it all around to make you & the Govt of being “divisive” when it is they only days before who were doing just that, re the Asylum seeker acussed of assaulting a young woman. They are up to every trick in the book & I ask that you when you have the chance on National TV, use that chance to show your anger & disgust at what they are saying, but even more, have a go at commentators who even dare to accuse you of something that you are not guilty of. ‘Sledging” is what Morrison is guilty of!! Make that point & GET ANGRY!!!!!You all must show your rage & anger at the crap that is coming out of the mouths of the Opp & the media, DONT take it lying down…..Please!
I look forward to seeing you again on TV, use that opportunity to hit back!!You are all TOO NICE!! they ARE”NT!!
This is a “Great Govt gettin better” you need to say this every minute of the day, like Abbott with his crazy one liners, if you dont say it no one else will, believe me! You are a great Govt, but for some reason you cant get the message across, & I know that the media have everything to do with that, but surely your strategists know how to combat that, with things for you all to say other than Abbott is negative, that has had its day. Get Angry & aggressive, show your passion, people like passion, & they take notice, like when the PM went off at Abbott in Parliament last year, it got attention, people respected her for it, it showed she had guts, & passion, people like that.

Anyway enough of that, I have the utmost respect & confidence in your team, you are the best Govt we have had for many years, maybe ever & you simply must be re elected, because the alternative is too much to think about. Pull together, the public hate disunity, even a sniff is all it takes, & the media & Opp will make sure it is kept boiling away, dont let them. Good luck in the coming election, I hope that you retain your seat & you all retain Govt with a majority, you just might, look at the result in the USA, everyone thought that Obama was out & Romney was a romp in, but they were wrong & I am convinced that the Polls are rigged, so dont loose hope, polls are just that polls, they change from day to day.

    Labor forever
